How about using a background different from just plain black? after all since everything is moving in blocks, i thnk you could have it and things might look less "empty"? I had this kind of effect in a game a made last year (Frantic Pengo) and i think this kind of effect could look good here too...

All the sprites must be easily readable. Besides of it, the game using kind of isometric projection, at least I tried to make it so. It will be nearly to impossible to make isometric terrain. As result, the game scene will become flat and will require to redesign terrain sprites to make them square. This is not what I want.

It starts to shape up nicely. The gameplay is more complex than the original one, which adds variety and depth. Also, some nice animations that add details. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses

Hello!
Here is a trailer for the game. "Mechwars: Centipede" will be the third game in Mechwars trilogy. The first game will be released soon. You can find the trailer about it on our YouTube channel.
I'll not publish it here to avoid offtopic.
At the end I'm showing a gameplay a little bit. The game will have 5 missions and survival mode. The gameplay will be different in most of missions. I decide to keep intrigue and showed only the first mission.
However, enjoy!

It really is shaping up nicely, 2 positive points: The story introduction, with all those cut-scenes is a real + for a game Also, I think it is a very good decision to create distinct levels (and not just endless gameplay like many games in the 80s), in order to motivate the player to complete the game

Keep working on it. Cannot show for now all, what's done. On 19th of December we will release it. Besides of it my son and I gonna stream game on our YouTube channel to show all the missions and tell about the game. P.S. The cassette inlay will be available as well.

Nice! It must be something really special to be able to design and programm Spectrum games with your son Yeah! He producing too many ideas for little poor Speccy with 48K of RAM. So, I am always balancing between his wishes and Speccy limits.
