The time has come!
A new game becomes part of this competition, made with respect for the great ZX Spectrum community!
"Nothing"
is a ZX Spectrum 128K demake of the PC game created by JoelLikesPigs for the Ludum Dare 45 competition.
You can download the release version here: zxonline.net/game/nothing/
Full workflow video (recorded on 13 Jan 2022):
"You start with nothing."
The game takes the theme quite literally, by starting with no controls, no music, and no sound, and then rewarding your progress by gradually releasing various upgrades, some of which are crucial, many frankly useless, but still fun to discover
Compared to the original PC version, this port extends and upgrades the original further.
The game is now much longer, has more levels, and contains many new upgrades for your character.
And, of course, the ZX Spectrum version invites you to have new adventures and explore new locations where everything around you will try its best to kill you.
A new 4-way scrolling engine has been developed specifically for this game, with the speed and performance that are unprecedented on ZX Spectrum.
If your ZX Spectrum clone can run the game in turbo mode (7 MHz or more), even better quality graphics will be enabled automatically.
– It’s just like a PC game, but improved and extended?! Are you kidding?
No, I’m not.
Turn on your ZX Spectrum and see it with your own eyes!
Min. requirements: ZX Spectrum 128K, +2, +2A, +2B, +3 or compatible machine
Recommended: ZX Spectrum 128K compatible machine running at 7 MHz or more (ZX Next, ZX Evolution, etc)
Teaser video:
This ZX Spectrum version was created by Sergei Smirnov aka Gogin.
The idea and original PC version by JoelLikesPigs.
The original PC game soundtrack composed by CactusBear.
The author of original fan-art used as the title screen is Kurobina Yuki aka KamaBlackbird.
from Russia with love
Sergei Smirnov, developer.
